ASIFA-Hollywood has announced today that the 48th Annie Awards™ ceremony will be held on Friday, April 16, 2021. The decision on whether the ceremony will be held live or virtual will be decided in October 2020.
According to ASIFA-Hollywood Executive Director, Frank Gladstone, “The coronavirus has had an effect on almost everything in our lives. The Annies are no exception. Every year, rules are amended and, this year, dates have been adjusted, too.”
Key dates include the call for entries (January 4, 2021); submissions deadline (February 1, 2021); nominations announcement (March 3, 2021); and online balloting (March 29 to April 9, 2021). Rules and categories are also now available.
Created in 1972, the Annie Awards™ invites entries from animated productions that were released in the United States between January 1, 2020 and December 31, 2020. Exceptions to the United States release rule are commercials, short subjects, special projects and student films.
